✨ Thawing the Spirit: Series Roundup
Blending Science with Spirituality from a Biblical Perspective
Over the past several weeks we’ve been exploring the Thawing the Spirit series here at Oasis @ Serenity Cafe. This seven-part journey weaves together neuroscience, philosophy, and the practice of Parts Work to show how the “frozen” places in us can be thawed, healed, and transformed.
Each post builds on the last — starting with a reframe of how we view negativity, then moving through awareness, perception, inner parts, and finally integration. If you missed any along the way, or would like to revisit them, here’s the full series in order:
🌗 There’s No Such Thing as Negative, Only the Absence of Positive
A spiritual, philosophical, and neuroscientific reframe.
This opening post challenges the way we think about “negative” experiences, shifting the focus toward the presence (or absence) of positive energy.
🔦 The Flashlight of Awareness & the Default Mode Network
Reprogramming your brain’s autopilot for a better default.
Here we explore how awareness can shine like a flashlight, shifting us out of old patterns and into more intentional ways of thinking and being.
🎬 The Real-ization of Rational-Lies
How your brain’s 5-D movie theater makes lies feel like truth.
A look at the brain’s storytelling machinery, and how easily false narratives can become believable when fueled by powerful emotional imagery.
🐘 Pink Elephants, Objecting Parts, and the Science of “Don’t”
Why telling yourself “Don’t think of a pink elephant” almost guarantees you will — and how to use that quirk of the brain to your advantage.
🧩 Understanding Your Inner Family Roles: Managers, Firefighters, and Exiles
Integrating IFS, The Iceberg, and the Life Scripts & Parts Matrix Models.
This post introduces the three major categories of parts that shape our inner lives and shows how different models fit together into one framework.
🪖 Children Can’t Fight & They Can’t Escape; So They Become POWs
How Parts Work & IFS heal childhood wounds and find freedom.
Here we consider the plight of children in unsafe homes, comparing their inner world to prisoners of war who must rely on protectors to survive.
🌿 From Parts in Conflict to Self-Led Harmony
Moving from inner battlefield to inner teamwork to unleashed potential.
The capstone of the series: integration. Discover how protectors, exiles, and the True Self can move from conflict into collaboration, creating space for growth and possibility.
💡 Looking Ahead
This completes the Thawing the Spirit series — but the journey continues. As we step into September, National Recovery Month, I’ll be sharing new posts, guided practices, and reflections designed to support healing and transformation. We will be sharing opportunities for ongoing conversations and resources for anyone walking a recovery path.
Your comments and feedback on this series is appreciated! Stay tuned, and thank you for being part of Internet of the Mind! 🌿
