Enabling my Mom and being treating terrible

by Julie Troher
(Ortonville, MI)

I am 43yrs. old and have been enabling my Mom for almost all my life- at least 30yrs. . My Mom has HIGH ANXIETY and depression. She has been thru alot she had a bad childhood.

She has lost 1 son(my brother) almost 6yrs. ago and my Dad almost 3 yrs. ago and brings up all the time to people that they have died. Poor me synromdome - my other brother calls it. Sometimes everything is poor me and I alwalys try to make things better. Well it is not working anymore. I am getting hurt.

I have allowed her to treat me like crap and I do not know how to get out of this cyle. She can be very nice and then so mean.

She has seen psychiatrist and psycholgist but most of the time she says everything is everyone elses fault for her feeling bad.

I am always making excuses for her- I even make excuses to myself of way she treats me bad-
