Abandonment seems to never leave me

by Angie
(San Diego, Ca)

Grow up on a dysfunctional home with an alcoholic father left me codependent my whole life one bad relationship after another. Been in counseling several times but cannot seem to recover; want to get to the root cause so I can live a normal life.

Hi Angie,

Keep searching and learning about abandonment. Also, I hope you have a support network too! There should be some Adult Children of Alcoholic Families (ACA) groups there in San Diego... Even if your family was not into alcohol, ACA has added "and other dysfunctional families" to its title.

Lots of other people wounded from childhood started showing up there with the same issues so they broadened their scope -- Thank Goodness!! Some groups are even changing their names to Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families".

Here is a link to the ACA website: (Just copy and paste it into your browser address bar)
