As a CASAC working in the field of alcohol/addiction for the past 15 years, I’ve completed more that a 1000 psychosocial and have notice that 80-90% of the clients reported their onset of a mood alter substance began at age 13.
I was wondering is there a correlation between starting the use of a mood altering substance and repression of shame, abandonment, or what you called "Internal Critic"? I know this may not be a contribution but I'm hoping for some feedback. Email address pmurray@kingsbrook.org
