no reason to stop

by Sue

I am 56 years old.
I started drinking in my early 40's.
Why?
menopause
empty nest
low self esteem
never had an identity outside of family- did not graduate from university or find a career
divorced
rejected by my adult children when my marriage to their father failed
etc

Hi Sue,

If you have problems related to your drinking, then that list may be the reasons you gave yourself to pick up a drink. But it's not why you kept drinking after the problems began...

There is only one thing that explains continued use despite serious negative consequences - that one thing is addiction.

Glad you are here!

Blessings,
Don
