I'm lost regarding where to go from here. My childhood abandonment was complete.

What you wrote touched me - just your one line. My name is Debbie too, and I feel as you do. I don't know when you wrote this, but I pray that you have found support. I'm working on it myself, but am still very much alone.

Thanks Don. I'm in ACA. It helps to know others can relate.

Hi,

I am familiar with the feeling and things can seem very overwhelming at times. The best thing to do when you feel this lost is to get a guide...a counselor who knows about abandonment would be the best place to start.

Once you get a local connection with someone who can be there to guide you through the healing process it is also good to get a team of people who know what you are going through and will be there to show you the way because they blazed the trail...

Adult Children of Alcoholics and Other Dysfunctional Families is your best bet, unless you have an active addiction - you must treat and stabilize that before dealing with the original pain of abandonment.

Once you get these things in place, check out the Recovery Oasis here (second link from the top on left panel). There is a growing community of people recovering from these issues there. We'd love to have you join our group!

Blessings!
Don
